Not all comic book fights involve capes and eyebeams. As an even bigger NC Comicon prepares to return to the Durham Convention Center this weekend after a blockbuster debut last year, I combed through the apparent conflict between it and a new Greensboro-based convention, Comic Book City Con, for the INDY.

It’s a tale of violent mascot battles and noncompete clauses, shot through with intrigue and cagey plausible deniability. Plus, we learn about the convention’s new partnership with the Carolina Theatre for the ComiQuest film festival and the Durham Indie Comics Expo, or DICE. Read it here.
